Bison Bluff Farms Hosts Third Summer Twilight Meeting

The University of Illinois Extension and Illinois Stewardship Alliance have teamed up with area farmers to provide four twilight meetings to highlight and demonstrate diverse farming enterprises across southern Illinois.  Anyone involved or interested in local food production is encouraged and invited to attend.

Bison Bluff Farms is excited to be hosting our third twilight meeting on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6-8 PM.  During this meeting, you will have the unique opportunity to see firsthand some of the similarities and differences between bison and cattle production.  Located in Union County east of Cobden, IL, Bison Bluff Farms is owned and operated by Clifton Howell and his family, and consists of over 350 bison roaming on more than 1,000 acres.  The bison are grass fed, supplemented with some grain and minerals, with no chemicals or hormones added.

Miser, DVM, Veterinary Supervisor, IDOA-Division of Food Safety and Animal Protection, will provide information and answer questions on State of Illinois Meat and Poultry inspections and licensing.
