On Sunday evening we hosted the 12th Annual Harvest Celebration with 250 guests. Farmers, chefs, and eaters all came to Springfield to show their love and support for family farms, wholesome food, and thriving communities.
With their support, we raised a record-setting $37,000!Guests dined on small plates of seasonal dishes prepared by eight of Central Illinois’ finest chefs, sipped signature cocktails by Engrained Restaurant and Brewery, bid on silent auction items, and put a whole new level of “lively” into the live auction.
We are so grateful. Grateful to the farmers who grew the food, to the chefs that gave their time and talents to prepare it, to our sponsors and donors, and to our guests, whose support helps build a more just and regenerative food system. Your time and donations will help us accomplish big goals in 2020, like releasing a statewide Buy Fresh Buy Local directory to help more folks find and buy local food; covering 50,000 acres in cover crops; educating legislators to implement conservation practices on public lands; and shifting policy to include more state procurement of local food.
At the Alliance, we know that creating change starts from within– by bringing folks together, building leadership, and creating a community. When you have a community at your back, you can do anything. At the Harvest Celebration, our community was strong!
