On Wednesday, April 26th, farmers, environmental advocates, and citizens from across the state will come together in Springfield for Healthy Soil, Healthy Water Lobby Day to educate their legislators about the importance of conservation on farmland to protect our soil and water ecosystems.
Healthy Soil, Healthy Water Lobby Day will consist of an educational session on the importance of soil to the quality of our water, lobbying training, lunch, lobbying at the capitol, and a panel with the legislative Green Caucus followed by a reception. We’ll make it easy for you to make your voice heard!
Join us for this FREE event, but registration is required.
10:30-11:00am Registration: Sign in and pick up your packets at the upstairs rooms in Arlington’s Restaurant.
11:00am – 1:00pm Lunch and Training: We’ll kick start the day with a locally sourced lunch featuring a burger bar and salad from homemade potato chips. While we chow, our fearless leaders will review our legislative priorities and lead us through advocacy training, including talking points, how to interact with legislators and their assistants, and how to navigate the Capitol complex.
1:00pm- 3:45pm Lobbying: After lunch we’ll descend upon the Capitol to make our voices heard for healthy soils and healthy waters.
4:00pm – 6:00pm Reception and Green Caucus Meeting: After lobbying, we’ll make our way back to Arlington’s restaurant to celebrate our hard work with a reception featuring local food snacks and one free drink. During this time period we’ll also hold the Green Caucus Meeting. Stick around to mingle with legislators and learn more about water quality along alongside them during our panel discussion with water and environmental experts.
