2017 was another remarkable year of making our vision of a more sustainable, vibrant and just local food system a reality.
In a time of bitter partisan division, Alliance members and partners passed two state laws unanimously that give farmers freedom to sell more fresh, local food direct to customers, and give all of us more freedom and choices to buy local. In 2017, the St. Louis Federal Reserve published a report with data to backup what we already know: local food generates jobs and revitalizes communities. We’re rebuilding Main Street with food and farming appeals across party lines and across the Chicago-Downstate divide.
But it’s not just our policy advocacy that saw wins, we were hard at work building local food systems from the ground up through our conservation and local food programming as well. Check out the report below!
