Local Flavors is a farm-to-table series created by Illinois Stewardship Alliance as part of the Buy Fresh Buy Local campaign to increase awareness for and availability of local and sustainably grown food.

Local Flavors aims to connect Illinois growers and producers with local restaurants. The series takes place in 4 cities across central Illinois: Bloomington-Normal, Peoria, Springfield, and Champaign-Urbana. Every first and third Thursday of the month, June to October, participating restaurants in each of these cities will offer a lunch or dinner special menu item (or items) highlighting fresh, seasonal, locally produced foods sourced from central Illinois farmers. The series opens new markets for small farmers; gives restaurants an opportunity to source locally and receive high quality products; and gives YOU a chance to support local farmers, local restaurants, and the local economy.
Local Flavors is a program of the Buy Fresh Buy Local Central Illinois Chapter. The purpose of this program is to connect local farmers to area restaurants, retailers, institutions, farmers’ markets and consumers within the Central Illinois region. Thanks to our local partners – Downtown Springfield, Inc., Downtown Bloomington Association, Ecology Action Center, Green Top Grocery, Peoria Riverfront Association, Peoria County Government Office of Sustainability, University of Illinois ExtensionSlow Food Springfield, Urbana Market at the Square, The Land Connection, and Visit Champaign County.
In addition to the Local Flavors Dinner Series, Illinois Stewardship Alliance also hosts a spin-off series called Local Flavors Week aimed at reaching restaurants in rural Illinois communities. This year 2 Local Flavors Week events will take place in Jacksonville and Streator
