What can you do?

These events are free and open members and non-members. We do ask that you register to attend the Dishing events so that we can plan food and beverages.
We just announced two locations today at Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm in Ottawa and Hazzard Free Farm in Pecatonica. We’re working with our members to set up four additional Dishing on the Farm Bill parties across Illinois. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements to register for a Dishing Event near you!
Dishing on the Farm Bill is your opportunity to:
- build community with farmers and eaters in your district
- share a locally sourced snacks
- learn some of the top food and agriculture priorities in the Farm Bill and how to take action
Next year, Congress will be working on the 2023 Farm Bill – the major food and agriculture package that comes around about every 5 years. The Farm Bill determines funding for everything from food stamps to crop insurance and sets policies that will decide what type of food ends up on our plates and what type of farming practices are encouraged or discouraged. In order to ensure that local food and sustainable farming are a priority for the next 5 years, Congress needs to hear from us.
With Five members of Congress from Illinois on the House and Senate Agriculture Committee, folks in our state have a unique opportunity to shape the future of food and farming in this country. Now is the time to grab your friends and speak up!
