Support farmers like Shaun: Bid on a $100 Gift Certificate to FiftyFour Farms

The Harvest Auction is now open and features amazing items like this $100 Gift Certificate for humanely raised beef from FiftyFour Farms.

Shaun Tyson doesn’t just raise amazing local beef, he raises issues with policymaker.

When the pandemic spread like wildfire through meat processors, the ripple effect impacted livestock producers like Shaun Tyson. Shaun raises pastured beef with his family in Chestnut, northeast of Springfield.

He shared his story on a farm tour with State Representative Tim Butler and State Senator Sally Turner this summer.

He told the lawmakers about a cooperative food hub project he’s helping get off the ground to serve area farmers and supplying nearby schools and hospitals with fresh food. He talked about the need for supporting more local food infrastructure like food hubs and local processing plants that will help grow local economies and make communities more resilient.

Farm tours like the one Shaun hosted on his farm are how we move forward the conversation to shift policy so Illinois farmers can feed Illinois, and build the health and wealth of Illinois communities.

Legislators tell us that these firsthand experiences help them understand the issues farmers face.

You can support more farm tours and farmer leaders like Shaun by making a bid on great items in our Harvest Auction

This summer Farmer Shaun Tyson worked with Illinois Stewardship to invite his lawmakers to tour his farm and discuss how they can support ag policies that build the health and wealth of Illinois.

I recommend the $100 gift card for Shaun’s beef. You can order his grassfed, hormone and antibiotic-free beef online and have it shipped to enjoy with your family and friends.

There’s tons of other great items in the auction.  To start bidding, simply create a free account with Handbid. You won’t be charged unless you win.

Shop our Harvest Auction for unique local gifts for the holidays, Thanksgiving turkeys or Passover lambs, farm-to-table dinner experiences, or family friendly farm tours.

Your bid, win or lose, helps build collective power to bring farmers and eaters together, shift policy, and create a more just and regenerative food and farm system.
